Does my image get uploaded?
No. Decoding, resizing, encoding, and comparison happen in your browser. The image is not sent to our server.
Will the result always be accepted?
The downloaded JPG is kept below your chosen byte limit. A third-party website may also check dimensions, composition, naming, or other rules, so acceptance cannot be guaranteed.
Why is the default 3MB instead of 10MB?
GOV.UK currently allows 50KB to 10MB. This tool uses 3MB as a conservative default; change the target if your application says otherwise.
